The Triple"B"S Knife Lock

I wanted to make front flipper folding knives, and I did not want to use the traditional lock designs available, so I came up with my own lock. The Triple"B"S or Bud Beets Ball Slide, allows the flipper tang to pass through the lock mechanism.

All the custom knives are made in house, hand ground bevels, custom file cuts, and I do all my own CNC work on the handle slabs and other parts. You can watch the full build process in the video series below.

The first folder model available was the Cholla (pronounced choya), named after a "jumping cactus" found in the desert in Arizona. Surprising and pointy, seemed a fitting name for this knife.

I now have a full cactus collection of folders available now on the Store page. As well as a collaboration knife with Midgards-Messer using the Triple"B"S Lock.

part 1 - Fusion 360 and Right Handle Slab

Complete 3D animation of the internals. Fusion 360 Design and blade machining and right handle slab machining.

Part 2 - Mirror Image / Left Handle Slab

Creating the mirror image of the right handle and cutting that out for the left handle slab.

Part 3 - Blade

Hand grinding the bevels, custom file cuts and heat treating the blade!

Part 4 - finishing handle slabs

Tapping the small holes and putting the final finish on the handle slabs.

Part 5 - Finish blade and small parts

Finish grinding bevels after heat treating, making the blade bushing and the back spacers to fit the blade.

Part 6 - final assembly

Etching the logo on the blade, finishing the cover plates, and final assembly and fitting.

We stress test the lock to make sure it will hold up under pressure!
